The Jazz in the Garden: Willie Martinez and his Latin Jazz Collective

Swing by the Museum’s backyard Sculpture Garden for our Jazz in the Garden series, featuring performances by some of the city’s best musicians. In September, hear Willie Martinez and his Latin Jazz Collective, which blends Afro Caribbean rhythms with the harmonic vocabulary and improvisational spirit of jazz. Martinez, a percussionist and vocalist, holds a long-running monthly show at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe with his band La Familia. He was named “New Yorker of the Week” by NY1 for his weekly outdoor concerts that enlivened his Brooklyn neighborhood throughout the pandemic.
