“Songs of Farewell”

and songs of living

Our major work, “Songs of Farewell,” by composer, C.H.H. Parry offers settings of poetry from the Elizabethan and Jacobean periods plus Verses from Psalm 39 about the transitory nature of life and the redeeming power of faith.

We will also sing contemporary composer Jonathan Woody’s setting of the Syrian diplomat and poet Nizar Qabbani’s “I Conquer the World with Words,” expressing resistance to imperialism, colonialism, and authoritarianism, and the beauty of Arab cities.

And, a quiet jazz arrangement of “I’ll Be Seeing You,” from a 1938 Broadway musical which became the virtual anthem of a wartime generation and was recorded by Bing Crosby, Jo Stafford, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra and many others.

We will offer refreshments after this Saturday concert.
