Lehman College is proud to co-sponsor and host the CUNY Institute for Health Equity (CIHE) two-day summit focusing on migration and health. The summit will include various workshops, seminars, and panel discussions on efforts to educate and empower community-based organizations.

Among the highlights of the summit will be a keynote speech delivered by Councilwoman Pierina Ana Sanchez, representing the 14th Council District.  From the community board to the White House, and from her work in advocacy organizations to the mayor’s office – Pierina has been a fighter for immigrant families, racial justice, affordable housing, and meaningful investments in our communities since the start of her career in public policy and urban planning.

Delivering the summit’s second-day keynote speech will be Assembly Member Yudelka Tapia, representing the 86th Assembly District. A Senior Auditor for the New York City Comptroller’s Office for 23 years, Tapia has been deeply involved in her community, serving as PTA President of Roosevelt High School and as an Executive Committee member for the local 1407-DC 37 union. She has spent years fighting to make her community better for working families like hers.

Throughout the two days, attendees will hear first-hand from national and international scientists and scholars who will speak on various topics spanning from access to healthcare to community engagement.
