With a career spanning over forty years, Alex Blake’s talent is measured by the plenitude of masters who have called upon him for his inventive and passionate playing. He has performed with Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins, Sun Ra, Art Blakey, Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner, Stan Getz, and is a long-time member of NEA Jazz Master Randy Weston’s African Rhythms.

Starting professionally at age 12 with Latin jazz legends, by 16 he was touring with Sun Ra, establishing a reputation as an emerging and formidable star bassist.
