Choral Celebration & Youth Orchestra Spotlight at Carnegie Hall

The New England Symphonic Ensemble returns to Carnegie Hall to collaborate with outstanding choruses from across the country in a dynamic evening of contemporary and classical works. The program features Gwyneth Walker’s Songs for Women’s Voices and The Tree of Peace, conducted by Kathleen R. Hansen; Jake Runestad’s Into the Light, led by Matthew J. Packer; and Morten Lauridsen’s luminous Lux Aeterna, conducted by Michael Martin. Participating choruses include the San Diego Women’s Chorus from California, Saint Dominic Academy Glee Club from New Jersey, Cross Creek Chorale and Cumberland Choral Arts from North Carolina, PhilHarmonia from Pennsylvania, and UniSong Chorale from Michigan.
As part of the Ensemble Spotlight Series, the Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra, conducted by Jean Montes, celebrates its 30th Anniversary Tour to Carnegie Hall with a vibrant and diverse program. Their performance includes Beethoven’s Overture to Fidelio, Op. 72c; Robert Sheldon’s Danzas Cubanas; Occide Jeanty’s La Délaissée et ses Soupirs; Michael Rihner’s Festive Overture (World Premiere); and Bill Holcombe’s Internationale Dixieland Jamboree.
