Conch Shell Productions (CSP), a Queens-based nonprofit dedicated to amplifying Caribbean heritage voices in theatre and film, proudly announces its 2025 Bluelight Reading Series production of Sons of an Unknown Father by acclaimed playwright Reynaldo Piniella, directed by award-winning artist Kevin R. Free. The workshop reading will take place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Forest Hills Library (108-19 71st Ave, Queens, NY). Admission is free, with RSVP advised.

The Bluelight Reading Series is a cornerstone of Conch Shell Productions’ annual programming, designed to spotlight underrepresented Caribbean heritage playwrights. Each reading creates a civic space where artists and audiences engage in dialogue, exploring the themes, craft, and cultural resonance of new works.

About the Play

Sons of an Unknown Father is a moving and provocative exploration of family, identity, and legacy. With Piniella’s dynamic writing and Free’s skilled direction, the play examines the power of hidden truths and the journey to reclaim one’s voice and story.

“The Bluelight Reading Series is about creating spaces where Caribbean playwrights can develop daring new works in conversation with the community,” said Magaly Colimon-Christopher, Producing Artistic Director of Conch Shell Productions. “Reynaldo’s play is a powerful reflection of heritage, identity, and resilience, and we are honored to share it with Queens audiences.”
