Join us for the final Art Break in connection with the Shared Vision: Portraits from The CCH Pounder-Koné Collection exhibition. In this special tour, we’ll explore how Afrodiasporic artists featured in CCH Pounder’s collection are reclaiming and reinterpreting European colonial aesthetics.
We will examine how these artists use and transform traditional European styles to highlight and celebrate the beauty of the Black body in portraiture. Through their unique approaches, they challenge historical narratives and offer a powerful reimagining of identity and representation.
Don’t miss this insightful journey into how art can both critique and celebrate cultural heritage, as we appreciate the ways in which these artists are reshaping historical aesthetics to honor Black beauty.
