4th of July Celebration
Happy 4th of July! This year the museum is celebrating with their special exhibition Dining in Transit and sampling tasty summer treats that can be enjoyed on the go! Help hand-crank some ice cream the old-fashioned way and taste some historic flavors from the recipes of a Pullman Company chef.
Did you know that the thin, crispy potatoes we enjoy today were developed in Saratoga Springs, New York? The chips that are eaten across the globe, including on the 4th of July, were popularized by an Indigenous and African American chef, George Speck Crum. Join us in learning about George Crum and his restaurant Crum’s and try some Saratoga Chips yourself!
Before you go, stop by the Barbara K. Lipman Children’s History Library on the lower level at 11:30, 12:30, or 1:30 for a July 4th Sing-Along! Use instruments, play games, dance, and sing songs old and new while celebrating together.
Be sure write a birthday message to the United States on our 1st floor. And stop by Cafe 77 for hot dog and soft-serve ice cream specials.
