Photography Collective. |
Opening Reception: August 6th, 6:00 pm |
On view till August 21st Anya Broido’s photographic work centers around themes of urban street culture; providing an entry into the different subcultures and nightlife. Her street wanderings often lead to chance encounters with strangers and in this series, she explores more intimately their private lives. As a newcomer to New York, Broido’s photographs reveal stories of the people who make up this city and form points of her own cultural map. Her images serve as a personal guide to the city’s collective identity while asserting her own mark within its territories. NYC-SPC is a non-profit collective made up of a small group of passionate street photographers, dedicated to creating and sharing the art of capturing life in public spaces. The Residency at NYC-SPC awards one emerging street photographer a cash prize and a month of unlimited free access to their photo lab. The Residency culminates in a solo three-week exhibition at NYC-SPC’s Contact gallery located in Brooklyn. Signed prints and a catalog are available for sale.
